This section is a list of Clothing and Accessories that I have chosen and tested whilst out on my adventures.
The reviews are my own, the recommendations are my own and to be totally honest if I have found anything that I didn't like I have said it here as well. Full Disclosure and all that.
SHOEI NEOTEC 2016 - Candy Red
An every-occasion helmet with the adaptability to excel no matter how big your next adventure! says the SHOEI website.
Well this is a fantastic helmet. It has an internal sun shield, a Pinlock EVO Fog-resistant system, and the liner is fully washable and replaceable.
I needed a helmet that would enable me to take on fluids and after much research and knowing that I love the SHOEI brand as I have the RF1200 helmet, I chose the Neo Tec. The Sena 10c fits it very well too and my concerns of the Sun Shield switch being obstructed with the fitment of the Bluetooth camera was fine.
Not disappointed - highly recommend. Quiet. Snug Fit. Great looking helmet.
REV'IT! Sand 2 Jacket 2016
I need a Jacket / Suit that is going to keep me warm, dry and comfortable.
This ultimate adventure touring jacket is the one. A removable waterproof and thermal liner ensures I have a comfortable ride no matter what the weather.
The jacket has zipper vents on the chest, on the forearms and on the back and during the summer months It was quite refreshing to ride around with the vents open. The waterproof liner zips into the jacket and does its job. When the heavens have opened and it has been tipping it down this jacket has kept me dry and toasty.
The jacket also comes with a thermal liner which I have not used. The reason being that I have a heated vest and prefer to wear that and plug in on Autumn days when I need to take the chill off.
Full disclosure.... The zipper on the forearm can let in the rain and I get the sensation that my forearms are getting damp.
REV'IT! Sand 2 Pants
The REV'IT Sand 2 Pants are perfect for all year round riding. Like the matching jacket, the pants are durable and come with the removable waterproof and thermal liners. During the summer the zipper vents were opened. The side pockets are large and have a durable lining with double velcro seal.
The great news about these is that they are available in different lengths. The suit is a Men's and fits as advised with the shorter length to fit my 5' 6" frame (i.e.: I am a shorty....)
Dry Weather - REV'IT Sand Pro Gloves
The REV'IT Sand Pro Gloves (left picture) are a great glove. Breathable as well as hand protection with knuckle and palm pads. The mesh material makes the gloves ventilated and great for hot / warm weather riding. I have found one bug bare and that is the palm pad on my left hand makes my hand rather sore after a long day riding. However its hasn't phased me wearing them. For comfort, protection and airflow I highly rate them - they also match the Rev'it Suit !
Wet Weather REV'IT Summit 2 H2O Gloves
So the Sand Pro gloves are for when it is dry and warm. The Summit H2O Gloves are for when the weather is wet and cold. In all seriousness, these gloves look great. They have protective molded knuckles and are a comfortable fit.
I was impressed with the look of the gloves with the reflective trim. The material is soft and there is a lot of protection built in.
These are so new that they haven't been tested in the wet yet ! so check back again to see my updated review.
Hydration Back Pack - Kriega Hydro 3
I have been advised that during the warm sections of the ride of a lifetime that I am going to have to be able to take on fluids whilst riding. We researched a ton of solutions. A water belt, a carrier bracket for bottles fixed onto the bikes.
Finally we settled on both wearing hydration packs. This pack had everything and I like the 1-litre side access zip pocket as well as the ability to store a wallet. the reflective designs and 10 year guarantee made my mind up.
Check back later as I try and test out this hydration back pack ready for the trip ...
Tank Bag
so as for tank bags i have 2 of the SW-Motech bags.
a big magnetic tank bag that fits the Bolt cruiser perfectly and the smaller bag for FJ.
I will say that the smaller bag is fine - it had one compartment and I get my paperwork, house keys, wallet, and phone and heated gear cables in the bag.
My bug bear - I should of got the next size up as this bag although a fantastic little bag with reflective and great design - could do with being just a little bit bigger.
Major issue with this bag is the rain cover - its gigantic, doesn't fit well at all, flaps around and I generally felt that the rain cover was for a larger bag. For safety reasons I ended up removing the rain cover and now anything inside the bag is contained within zip lock bags
If you need a small tank bag for day time riding this is a great little bag.... did I mention the word little ;-)
