Today was all about the ride!
Rebecca, our riding buddy, decided to join us from Gallup into Albuquerque so we were now a group ride !
We all got out and loaded up and hit the road by 7:30am. The weather was warm and the sun was shining. No museums were planned today as it was all about the ride and the spectacular scenery. We spent the previous evening ensuring that all the cameras were fully charged.
No Rattle snakes today either infact not a sighting of cattle, horses, goats, peacocks or turtles ..... zippo. Just bushes, cactus, dusty roads, red rock mountains and pastures.
Sat Nav also had a very good day and behaved herself with no hissing fits today - No
" Dead Ends" or " Make a U Turn " insulting instructions.
We left Moriaty and passed through Albuquerque which has the longest main st I have ever ridden - approximately 15 miles of Casinos, Fast food joints, Motels, construction and road works!
Just before having to jump onto the interstate once again we had to cross the Continental Divide. The great divide is the principal and mountainous divide of the Americas. At an elevation 7,245 ft it drains the watersheds from either side of the mountainous peaks into the Pacific Ocean and rivers from the east that drain into the Atlantic Ocean.
After a phenomenal day of riding against the elements (it was so windy again today) and we have reached our destination and are able to rest up. We had a late lunch so this afternoon gives us the chance to review photo and video footage from the past days and catch up on emails......
Below are some of the photos taken today capturing the spectacular views of New Mexico.
Tomorrow we head towards Williams, Arizona - Gateway to the Grand Canyon!
