An annual event at a campground in Narrowsburg, NY. Women riders from all over merge on a Friday afternoon and take over the campsite until 10am on Sunday. I had been to the first year and missed the 2nd BRO as I was doing Route66 and last year I was out due to medical recoveries. So I was super excited to be planning and looking forward to spending time talking bike stories with my moto family buddies.
I had planned to ride up with my buddy Kellie as we live pretty close and then meet up at the Pallisades with my buddy Kristed (from Route66) on route. Unfortunately Kellie had an accident the week before and broke her ankle. Damn Sista! Speedy Recovery to you.
I had got everything together the previous Sunday and chose FJ for this trip leaving Badass behind. The Garmin Zumo had also been updated and I was surprised as it was functioning well and faster at loading.
Thursday night the bike was all packed up. I hadn't camped in two years so I was excited but also due diligent to remember everything!
Friday was an early start leaving Garden City at 6:30am and heading to meet Kris at the Mobil garage on the Pallisades by 8am.
The ride from Home to the Pallisades went smoothly and it felt absolutely great to be back in the saddle. I arrived just before 7:30am and got myself a coffee and a bagel. The sun was shining, the weather was glorious. It wasn't cold, no need for the heated grips today.
Shortly before 7:45am in rode Kristed on her BMW GS700. It was so good to see her it had been 16 months since we had last caught up and in that time Kris had spent 6 months walking the Appalachian Trails and bought a house upstate NY and I had had surgery and bought a house in Garden City. We left the Palisades bang on 8am and headed north to Port Jervis taking a little detour into Harriman State Park and up Seven Lakes Dr. The pictures below show how beautiful a ride it was. I remember saying to FJ " well back FJ " with a big grin on my face.
We got to Port Jervis just before 10am and stopped at a regular spot Arlene's and Tom's Diner. After a big breakfast we then continued on to Route 97 north (one of my favorite roads ever!), Hawks Nest and on to Landers End, Narrowsburg.
Below are some shots taken of the weekend away including my new tattoo - number #7 - for my collection.
Now the task of planning future weekends away begins as the summer is finally here.
Signing off now until the next adventure
