Every year the riding group IMRG, Indian Motorcycle Riders group travel to West Dover, Vermont to an Inn called Kitzhof Inn. This year I decided to take a short break away and join them.
I had purchased two GoPro Black hero9 for the trip mounting one on the handle bar and one on a chin mount.
Day 1 - It was an early start and the heavens had spoken. Rain Gear on route to the Long island Welcome Centre on the LI Expressway and then onwards to Port Jeff.
The ferry had been pre-booked for the 9am crossing to Bridgeport, Connecticut. With the bikes parked up in 1st gear it was time for a bagel with Egg, Sausage and Cheese and a large coffee and to get the rain gear off temporarily.
The crossing is approximately an hour and 10 with loading and unloading.
Scott was leading and Dave was sweep with 7 bikes off we set on Route 8 north. Rain Gear on as it was sprinkling.
We disembarked and with our rain gear on we set off north on Route 8 stopping at Otis for a pitstop at the Neon Newt. It was tipping it down at this point.
Back on the bikes and the storm had passed us and we were back on our way via North Adams through Wilmington to West Dover, Vermont.
We arrived at The Kitzhof Inn just after 3pm and checked in, unloaded and me the owners Andrew & Erin.
this place has so much character
Chin mount bitterly disappointed - took one photo and it kept dropping its bluetooth connection
Day 2 - Lunch Ride - meeting parking lot at 9:45am KSU at 10:00am. Riding north to pass Stratton Mountain to beautiful route 30 west through Manchester, 30 north to Dorset Quarry for 15 minutes rest. 30 N to Lake Bomossen and lunch reservations for 16 / 12:30pm at The Lake House. Total approximately 85 miles. Return after lunch route 4 East to Route 7 South with a stop at famed Equinox Mountain Summit.
I was frustrated with the GO Pro's and the remote. Pretty much gave up with the chin mount.
Dinner was a BBQ back at the Inn and then a bit of a sing song with a few beverages
Day 3 - Lunch Ride - meeting parking lot at 9:45am KSU at 10:00am. Smaller group decided to go out and ride some sweet back roads with Mike C leading this time. We had a few off road moments where the roads had been badly damaged with the recent televised flooding in Vermont.
We returned to pulled pork and homemade coleslaw rolls with french fries !!
table football and a very funny game of trivia pursuit ended the evening.
Day 4 - All good thinks have to come to an end. I always find the checking out, loading the bike and heading home a day of reflection.
We had a good breakfast and then at 10am started to say our goodbyes
It was a pretty good ride south on Route 8 until we got to Connecticut and then the traffic started to build.
7 bikes on a hot day stuck in traffic is not what I would recommend
We got to Bridgeport Connecticut just after 1pm and the ferry departed at 1:30pm getting us to Port Jefferson at 2:45pm
we had all said our goodbyes on the ferry and we were the last to unload I did feel a sense of sadness. We had had the most fantastic weekend with some great weather, good food, and lots of laughter
I rolled up the driveway at 4:09pm feeling super happy and proud of my short break away.
first time riding in the new rain gear (although I have to quickly swap it out as its Black and Orange - Harley Davidson colors :-) )
Rode OFF road on Pearl - stuck her in 2nd gear and just did not touch the front break
Did ANOTHER mountain - Mountain Greylock
the ODO turned 5000 miles whilst away
Bike: 2019 Indian Chieftain Limited - Black Thunder Pearl
ODO now: 5028
Cant wait for the next trip
